Watch Ginger Snaps Movie In Theather

In the generic Canadian suburb of Bailey Downs live Ginger (Katharine Isabelle) and Brigitte (Emily Perkins), 15-year-old sisters committed to introversion, menstruation anxiety, and terminal misanthropy. Three years late for their first period, they spend their time staging gruesome death scenes for their own amusement, amidst the willful ignorance of their relentlessly perky mother (Mimi Rogers). On the night Ginger finally gets her period, the sisters are attacked in the woods by a ferocious creature that may have some connection to "The Beast of Bailey Downs," a predator currently disemboweling its way through the local dog population. The girls survive the attack, and Ginger's wounds heal quickly, but her attitude grows even more bizarre, as hair sprouts from her scars and a tail grows from her spine. Adding to the terror, she starts dating boys. A panicked Brigitte forces herself to befriend Sam (Kris Lemche), the high school pot supplier, whose brand of ganja may be the only cure for Ginger's troubling ailment. ~ Rebecca Flint Marx, Rovi

Review For Ginger Snaps

A quietly subversive my-sister-is-turning-into-a-werewolf movie that doesn't wimp out at the end.
Derek Elley-Variety

This isn't just a good horror movie, it's a good movie. Period.
-Time Out

The ideas are thin, and the scene-by-scene execution of them is bumbling.
Ray Conlogue-Globe and Mail

A superbly realized take on the perils of being different in a world that demands conformity.
Peter Howell-Toronto Star

It deserves a cult following among satire-loving, feminist-minded gore aficionados who appreciate a well-made human tail.
Lisa Schwarzbaum-Entertainment Weekly

Canada. Werewolves. It's the smartest and funniest scary movie in a long time -- and a true feminist horror film.
Charles Taylor-Salon.com

Very, very violent horror flick.
Sarah Wenk-Common Sense Media

A good old-fashioned werewolf movie...
Felix Vasquez Jr.-Cinema Crazed

A stunning teen angst/werewolf film from 2001, this was the best lycanthrope movie since An American Werewolf in London.
Lucius Gore-ESplatter

Successfully operates on dual levels -- as a horror movie and as a study of two sisters.
Rob Gonsalves-eFilmCritic.com

The movie is much at its best when dealing merely with suspicions, rather than when later laying out the lycanthropy and laying on the gore.
Philip French-Observer [UK]

At last a horror film with real bite.
-Film4

For most of its running time the film toys with all the standard conventions, providing some really fun and surprising dialogue. It's when it devolves into a "boys" movie, when the creature is fully seen and the killing begins, the movie tanks...
Jason Gorber-Film Scouts

Ginger Snaps is a satisfying return to mythology, cheesy gore and fear for the horror film.
Ryan Cracknell-Movie Views

Ginger Snaps is about as close to a new millennium Heathers as anyone has gotten.
David Poland-Hot Button

It's altogether devilishly cunning.
Frank Ochieng-rec.arts.movies.reviews

Despite the problems this plays as one of the better ones of the past couple years.
Ross Williams-Film Threat

A black comedy that nonetheless manages to tap into the sense of alienation and unfocused rage so prevalent in today's kids.
Merle Bertrand-Film Threat
